Department of Physics and Astronomy

The club is closely tied to the Department of Physics and Astronomy, though enrollment within the department is not required for club members. Weekly meetings typically take place across the hall from the main office on the twelfth floor of Webster Hall. The department also manages a wide range of physics demonstrations that the club has utilized for outreach events.

Society of Physics Students

Despite the name, the Physics and Astronomy Club is an active chapter of the Society of Physics Students (Chapter #7839; Zone 17). Various opportunities for local and national engagement are available through this affiliation, and individuals can seek further contributions through an optional membership with SPS National. As a part of our affiliation, the club sends an annual report to SPS that outlines the activities and achievements of the school year; in 2020, this resulted in our acceptance of the Outstanding SPS Chapter award.
