Announcing the 2019 Joint Conference of the California, Northwest, and Hawai’i Affiliates of the World History Association

The California, Hawaii, and Northwest affiliates of the World History Association look forward to welcoming you to the Bay Area for their annual joint conference to be held in Berkeley, CA, sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley, in conjunction with San Francisco State University.

The Conference will feature a keynote address from Emily Gottreich: “Where are the Jews in World History?”

We invite individual papers (15-20 minute presentations) and panels (90-120 minutes) on any topic addressing new research, concepts, or pedagogy in world history.

Individuals should submit a 250-word abstract, along with a one-page CV, and contact information. Panel proposals should also include a 100-word abstract for the panel (in addition to the abstract, CV, and contact information for the individual participants), and contact information for the panel organizer/chair.

The program will take place primarily on the UC Berkeley campus. Recommended hotels include: Hotel Shattuck Plaza, Berkeley Faculty Club, Women’s Faculty Club, Graduate Hotel Berkeley, and (for those interested in the resort experience) The Claremont. Ask for the UC rate at each.
