A proud member of the SAE Fraternity, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with honors in 1962 and served as President of the Alpha Psi Honor Fraternity at Washington State University.

Jack began his veterinary practice in Myrtle Point and Bandon, Oregon, before returning to Hazelton, Idaho, where he established Valley Veterinary Hospital in 1963. He later served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’ s Animal-Plant Health Services across multiple counties from 1970 to 1997.

Jack married Charlotte, September 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Buhl, Idaho. This September would have marked 66 years of marriage. While Jack had many interests, his main passion was his wife and two children, and all were frequently seen by his side enjoying outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting, farming and later in life he added golfing to their hobbies.

Jack gave back to his community in many ways. He participated in FFA during high school and then later in life he was involved in various 4H activities with his children. Served many years as an active member of the Lion’s Club in Hazelton. His Christian values were supported by his memberships at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in Sugar Land, Texas, and most recently St. James Lutheran Church in Llano, Texas.

He was blessed with only one granddaughter, and in 2001 they moved to Texas where his love for family took on the role of “Papa”. Some of his interests took a slight change from more rugged outdoor activities to coloring, and tea parties!

Throughout his life, Jack lived in various places including Idaho Falls, Rigby, Sun City, Arizona, Sugar Land, Texas, and Llano, Texas while his life was filled with memorable stories.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 16,2025 at 1:00 PM at Harrell Funeral Home, Llano with internment at Llano City Cemetery.
