George went home to be with his Lord early on the morning of September 21. He was born on Oct. 6, 1909, in Seattle. When their mother died, 3\u00bd-year-old George and his 5-year-old brother, Joe were sent to their Norwegian grandparents in South Dakota. Thirteen years later George returned to Seattle, where he graduated from Ballard High School. George served in the army in France and Germany during World War II. He then attended the University of Washington before going to Washington State University to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced in several states, primarily Texas, before returning to Seattle in 1975. He established the Phinney Ridge Animal Clinic in 1978, retiring in 1985. In 1978, as a 69-year-old bachelor, George married a widow, Margaret Rush. In addition to his beloved wife, George is survived by his sister, Ruby Morris, of Camano Island, and his brother, Arthur Thue, of Fairfax, Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Julia (Steve) Elster, Karen (Jon) Quackenbush, Paul (Laura Staley) Rush, Martha Applegate, and Matthew (Carol) Rush. The church always was an important part of George’s life wherever he was living. He supported various missions both in the United States and abroad. A Memorial Service to celebrate George’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, at Mountlake Terrace Christian Church, 5304 232nd St. SW, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mountlake Terrace Christian Church, or to Group Health Cooperative Hospice Services, 2100 124th Ave. NE, Suite 110, Bellevue, WA 98005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
