He was born July 21, 1933 in Circle, Montana, the son of David and Anna (Pedersen) James.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owen graduated from Circle High School in 1952. He served in the U. S. Army 1955 \u2013 1957. After graduating from Montana State University in 1958, he attended Washington State University and received a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1962. He practiced veterinary medicine in Acme, Alberta, Canada, and Plentywood, MT before starting the Circle Veterinary Clinic in 1965.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He married Elmira Greene Mallory in 1976. They were later divorced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He sold his practice in Circle in 1979 when he became a district veterinarian for the State of Montana in Ronan. Owen later moved to Helena where he was the assistant state veterinarian, Department of Livestock for the State of Montana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christy Lee was Owen\u2019s co-worker and they became close friends. When Owen became ill and was unable to care for himself, Christy became his caregiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by his sister, Irene Jones of Lakewood, CO, his brother Wesley (Karen) of Big Fork MT and Bryan, TX, sister Ruth (Tom) Towe of Billings, MT, his sister-in- law Judy James of Circle and 12 nieces and nephews.
