William Ellis Wellington, ’56 DVM

Dr. William Ellis Wellington, DVM, 90, a longtime resident of the Puget Sound area, died in Mount Vernon, WA on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was born in Seattle, WA, on March 18, 1931 to Mabel M. (Schooley) and Frederick V. Wellington. He served in both the Navy and the Marines and attended Seattle University. William graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State College in 1956.

He, and his wife Evelyn F. Gray Wellington, built their practice, the Edmonds-Westgate Veterinary Hospital, which still stands today. He presided as President over the Seattle Veterinary Medical Association in 1963. They raised 3 children.

He was preceded in death by former wife of 38 years, Judith Ann Langstead (d. 2013), siblings, Phyllis (Gerdy) and Frederick, and his parents.

He is survived by former wife, Patricia (Ransom) Cornelius and daughter, Teresa Marie Medina; former wife, Evelyn F. Gray Wellington; son William Dexter Wellington; daughters Lisa E. Wellington and Laura M. Wellington; 8 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and loving extended family.
