Tats Matsuoka, ’59 DVM

Tats Matsuoka passed away on November 30, 2022. Born August 24, 1928 to Takeo “Tom” and Kazue “Kaz” in Bellevue, WA. A graduate of Chinook, MT High School in 1946, he went on to obtain a BS from the University of Minnesota followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. An Army veteran, he taught at Montana State University before relocating to Greenfield, IN where he worked for Eli Lilly & Co. for 30 years. Tats is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; children Jeff (Kim), Kim Sturgeon, and Teri Brown (Chris); grandchildren Morgan, Laura, Rylie, Kelly, and Ethan; and his beloved dog, Baxter. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Todd Sturgeon.

Visitation will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, where he was a charter member, in Greenfield, IN on Sunday, December 4th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a service to immediately follow. Officiating the service will be Dr. Richard Blue. A private burial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. James Lutheran Church or Madison County Humane Society.
