Dr. Robert E. Underwood Resident of Lafayette, CA Bob Underwood passed away in Danville on March 20, 2013. Born October 30, 1917 in San Francisco, Bob spent his childhood years amongst the Redwoods in Guerneville, CA. He moved to the Bay Area and graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco and Cal Berkeley. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army in the Campaign of Western Europe, serving in the 358th infantry 90th Division and received the Purple Heart. Following his military service, he attended Washington State University and obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine. He returned to the Bay Area in 1949 and practiced for many years at Boever’s Animal hospital in Lafayette. He was a member of Lafayette Rotary for over 50 years and enjoyed his volunteer work with Meals on Wheels as well as many other Rotary events. Bob was married to his wife, Marge for over 50 years and they enjoyed bowling, square dancing and traveling with close friends until her death in 1993. Bob is survived by sons Robert Dean and his wife Gina, Richard and his wife Sue, daughter Jeanne Roth and grandchildren Amy, Bobby and Chris and one great-granddaughter, Savannah.
