Dr. Robert McKnight (Bob) passed away on December 24, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born in Dallas, Oregon. He graduated from Dallas High School, attended Oregon State University in Pre-Vet Medicine and received his verterinary degree from Washington State University.
He established the first Veterinary Hospital in Florence, Oregon in 1954 and practiced there until his retirement in 1998.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, of 61 years; 3 sons, Jon, Brett, Kent; 1 daughter, Mary Kay, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also by his sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Karl Byers.
Following his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. A memorial service will be held at New Life Lutheran Church, Florence, Oregon on January 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Life Lutheran Church. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
