ZELLMER, Richard L. (Age 89) – Passed away April 21, 2018, in Davenport, WA his home. He was born on January 7, 1929, in Spokane, WA to Albert and Irma Zellmer. He grew up in Davenport and attended school graduating in 1947. He then attended Washington State College (now WSU) and graduated with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Richard met Jeanette Jarvis, an art teacher with the Spokane School District, at Central United Methodist in Spokane. They married on June 30, 1962 in Little Falls, Minnesota, Jeanette’s hometown. The couple moved from Spokane to Davenport in 1964 where they farmed and raised their children on the family farm. Richard was a member of the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge F&A.M., former Davenport School Board member and the Davenport Grange. Richard enjoyed planting trees, farming, walking through his wheat fields and was a devoted WSU Cougar fan. Richard is survived by his wife Jeanette at the home, three children Alissa (& Joe) Nadeau, Kay Zellmer and Kyle (& Kristin) Zellmer along with seven grandchildren: Hannah, Brody, Tessa, Alex, Kylin, Cady and Chase as well as his brother Verne (& Linda) Zellmer along with numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Willard Zellmer. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, 207 Sixth St., Davenport, WA with Pastor Lucas Boomsma officiating.
