May 7, 1969 – August 3, 2014

Kerstin F. Brosemer, age 45, of Richland, Wash., passed away at the Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, on Aug. 3, 2014, due to natural causes.

She was born May 7, 1969, in Pullman, Wash., where she was educated and spent her childhood years. She graduated from Washington State University with a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1994. Dr. B, as she was known by her colleagues, was an experienced and very knowledgeable veterinarian of 20 years. She spent the past 10 years practicing emergency room veterinarian care at the Pet Emergency Service in Pasco, Wash. Dr. B loved her calling and the people that she worked with.

She volunteered much of her free time to animal causes and was at the forefront of emergency medical practices. Kerstin was also a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

She also attained a bachelor’s degree in French, received a private pilot’s license, was a certified aerobics instructor and played the violin, piano and flute.

The most fulfilling and happiest part of her life was her loving relationship with her husband, best friend and soul mate, Michael. Those 774 days of her life with Michael was a love story that most people only read or dream about.

Kerstin was an avid outdoors person. She enjoyed hiking, backpacking, snow-shoeing and mountain biking. Her favorite places to enjoy these activities were all the mountains around the Tri-Cities area, especially Badger Mountain. She also enjoyed hiking in the Cascade Mountains, Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Mount St. Helens, Palouse Falls, Multnomah Falls, Eagle Creek and the entire Oregon coast.

She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Okoniewski; father, Ron Brosemer; mother, Antji Sundermeier; sister, Birgit; two nephews; one niece; her kitties and one old dog that she loved.

A private memorial service for Kerstin was held on Aug. 8 at Einan’s at Sunset.
