I started the DVM program on the Pullman campus as a member of the class of 2029. The Dr. Jordan\u2019s Awards reminded me of my passion and purpose for attending veterinary school. My decisions and experiences are shaped by my family and my community. Listening to the love, passion, and support given by the families and friends reminded me that my family is always rooting for my success, and I am rooting for others. Representation matters and I hope to provide this for others.<\/p>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__28728\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">How is the DVM program preparing you for your future career?<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__28728\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n\n<p>In school, our shared goal is to become a doctor, however, our professional future, medical applications, and values are highly variable. Learning how to deal with these contrasting views, in a highly immersive, controlled and proctored environment, helps us develop communication skills for our future career. During our Clinical and Professional Skills course, we directly develop this skill. It\u2019s important to learn the balance between respect and advocacy for your own beliefs.<\/p>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__28986\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">What is your best advice for incoming students?<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__28986\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n\n<p>Vet school can feel isolating and scary. You might develop friendships that feel safe and comfortable, but this should not limit your perception of others. Don\u2019t be afraid to interact with different students, develop different relationships, and advocate for yourself.
