Hi, I’m Rheagan!

I’m a DVM student from Wyoming and completed my undergraduate studies at University of Wyoming. I started the DVM program on the Pullman campus as a member of the class of 2028. This is my first year as an ambassador.

I’d love to talk to you about anything and everything vet school!

I chose WICHE because it made attending veterinary school much more affordable. As a first-generation student from Wyoming, finding a program that offered strong financial support was a top priority for me. Since there isn’t a veterinary school in Wyoming, WICHE has been an incredible opportunity—allowing me to attend WSU while paying in-state tuition. I’m truly grateful that the western states have come together through this program to invest in the next generation of veterinarians.

I’ve been genuinely amazed by how kind and approachable the faculty at WSU are. The professors we work with every day truly care about our success—not just academically, but personally as well. They’re passionate about teaching and always willing to support us, so I encourage incoming students not to hesitate in reaching out. Beyond the classroom, the broader faculty and staff are also incredibly supportive, and they actively seek student feedback to continually improve our experience.

There are a wide variety of club opportunities available, and I’m fortunate to be involved in several of them. Through these clubs, I’ve had the chance to engage in hands-on experiences, such as performing blood draws on sheep and volunteering with Christian organizations. Clubs also offer lunch lectures that are not only fascinating but also highly relevant for preparing us for our future careers. These sessions provide unique learning experiences, like caring for honeybees or performing surgery on a frog—knowledge we wouldn’t typically gain in the classroom. Overall, clubs have been an invaluable part of my veterinary school journey. I highly recommend taking on an officer role as well, as it offers valuable leadership experience.
