Ambassador Spotlight: Jordan Johnson

Are you considering WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine? Our student ambassadors are available to provide insight into our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
Jordan Johnson was accepted to four of the seven veterinary schools she applied to, but ultimately, she chose Washington State University for three reasons: community, hands-on opportunities, and the price.
A second-year veterinary student from her home state of Wyoming, while Jordan is attending WSU as an out-of-state student and planning to return home to Wyoming, she has secured the cost of in-state tuition by utilizing the WICHE program.
“So why WSU? Vet school is so expensive, so the ability to establish residency — especially if I wouldn’t have gotten WICHE — was a huge pro in my book,” Jordan said “Second, was the amount of hands-on opportunity that is provided. Finally, the town of Pullman was a perfect fit for me.”
Jordan values the strong sense of community in Pullman, which has made her feel at home as she transitions from Wyoming. She wants incoming students to know WSU is a welcoming atmosphere: “It’s okay to not know everything! We’re all here to learn and grow.”
With a focus on production animals like beef cattle and sheep, Jordan is actively involved in several clubs, including the Veterinary Law and Ethics Club and the Ag Animal Club.
In her free time, Jordan enjoys hiking with her dog, Rooster, and experimenting in the kitchen.
