Ambassador Spotlight: Wayne Chang

Are you considering WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine? Our student ambassadors are available to provide insight into our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
As an international student from Taiwan, second-year veterinary student Wayne Chang has embraced the diverse and enriching environment at WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies at National Chung Hsing University, Wayne was drawn to WSU for its comprehensive veterinary program and abundant hands-on opportunities.
Wayne is interested in zoo medicine, exotics, research, and emergency medicine. He actively participates in the Zoo, Exotics and Wildlife (ZEW) Club and the Research Animal Club, serves as a student faculty member for the Class of 2027, and volunteers at the WSU exotics department.
To Wayne, the hands-on learning environment at WSU is one of its standout features. He appreciates the well-developed program that offers extensive opportunities, including the Open Clinical Skills Lab for surgical practice, and various departments within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for shadowing and volunteer work.
He said the importance of engaging with clubs and activities to make friends and enrich the experience in Pullman. “The community here is incredibly supportive; it makes a big difference in helping us feel at home,” he said.
His advice to incoming students: Don’t lose sight of life beyond academics because a work-life balance is critical.
