Bianca Plowman
Hi, I’m Bianca!
I’m a DVM student from California and completed my undergraduate studies at Radford University. I started the DVM program on the Washington campus as a member of the class of 2028. This is my first year as an ambassador.
I’d love to talk to you about my experience as a nonresident student and my interest in surgery.
Areas of interest
- Small animal orthopedic surgery
- Small animal soft tissue surgery
- Large animal surgery
- Small animal general practice
Club involvement
- Veterinary Business Management Association
- Surgery and Sports Medicine Club
- Herd Health Club
Extracurricular activities
- Small animal ortho surgery and sports medicine summer clinical rotation
- Vice-president of Surgery and Sports Medicine Club
- Veterinary technician
- Sales associate at Vuori
My best advice is to remember that it’s possible to have a life outside the demands of a rigorous course load. Vet school is undoubtedly challenging, but your experience is ultimately what you make of it.
The DVM program is preparing me for my future career in many meaningful ways. Each day, I continue to strengthen my communication skills, which are essential in veterinary medicine. I also have ongoing opportunities to develop my surgical abilities through the clinical skills lab and our Principles of Surgery course. This hands-on experience is especially important to me, as I aspire to become a surgeon.
My favorite part of the program is the strong sense of community and the fact that we are a non-tracking program. This provides ample opportunities to explore different areas, discover what you gravitate toward, and decide the path you want to take.
