Herd Health Club

Time to get out your barn boots, halters, and grooming brushes! Whether you are a lover of all things horses, or a small animal fanatic looking to gain some more valuable equine experience, Herd Health might just be for you! This is a very low-stakes, hands-on club that allows students to spend time with some of the on-campus WSU horses through biweekly sessions, during which groom and perform brief physical exams on a few assigned horses. You may choose to sign up with a group of friends, or jump in and be ready to make some new ones! Herd Health also takes the time to run us through the process of deworming (in the fall) and performing fecal flotations (in the spring).

Not only is Herd Health a great study break, but it also provides the opportunity for students to get more comfortable around horses in a relaxed group environment (especially if you are someone that hasn’t worked with them too much in the past!).
